Even big and famous brands sometimes send generic replies that are not very helpful. I also check if the store explains how to measure PD and frame size clearly. It is interesting to see how different people value different aspects of a product. When every picture has different colors or extreme filters, it is usually a bad sign. Good packaging and a small storage bag are also nice touches for accessories. Over the last months I noticed that some of my favorite items are not the most expensive ones.

I also pay attention to return policy and customer service response time. Many times I avoided a bad purchase just by reading a few careful comments. If they ignore basic questions or reply with copy pasted text, I become suspicious. Of course shipping delays can happen, but good communication reduces stress. Jewelry is another category where quality can be very different from photos. I think this is one of the few real advantages we have compared to shopping blindly. Comfort around the heel and toes is more important than super fancy design. The main things I look at for glasses are frame weight, hinge quality and lens coating.
